Contents Page Plan

I have began constructing my contents page by placing the magazine title first. I did this in order to keep the same house style the same with the front cover. I wanted to make sure that i use the same font, text colour and background in order to achieve this. The look of my contents page is very important because it attracts the readers to find out more about the contents of the whole magazine. Looking at other contents pages of similar RnB magazines, i discoverd that i need to fufill the desire of my targert audience as well create a desire in other people who might not necessarily be part of the usual readership. By creating a desire in the audience I mean building an interest in them to explore the next pages of my magazine, be fulfilled and purchase it on regular basis.

Before I started working on my contents page, a made a rough plan on paper to guide me through the whole process so that I don't stray away from the house style as well as to keep me alert of what the overall presentation that I'm working towards.

I intend in keeping my contents page very simple as it fits in well with the genre. For instance, I'm only going to use one close-up picture

In my contents page, I'm going to have four sub sections. These sub sections include
The Regulars section
This section is the first on the contents page. Its meant to be the most common section because it contains regular topics. This section is important because it involves the audience. It has a pop quiz that the audience can participate in and win something! Denis McQuil in one of his theories discovered that ever since the 1960's, the audience were far from passive when consuming media texts therefore I decided to give my readership that opportunity to be involved. I also included 'Star of the week' page and again its the audience who vote for the star of the week. I also placed a close up picture of the star of the week so that readers can spot the star as soon as they open the contents page. The Regulars section is therefore designed to involve the audience and prove that my magazine is worthy of the money they spend on it. Other RnB magazines don't really have their regular's section set out like that but I decided to challenge the existing media conversions by adding a few different things to make it more interesting without changing the traditional stereotypes of the genre.

Features
The features
section is one that I designed to give the audience something to look forward to. Features differ from week to week so no one knows what's on the features section next! The main feature of this particular edition is Nina.K the who is on the front page and double page spread. I have decided to use a different text colour on every celebrity name on my contents page to make the names stand out. RnB is all about the celebrities so when people read the magazine, they are mostly looking for their famous RnB singers.Highlighting their names in purple will save the readers the hustle of trying to find celebrities. It make sit easier for them to spot their favourite singers.

Lifestyle and fashion
RnB is very much linked to fashion and lifestyle. In addition to that most RnB magazines contain this section. I have chosen to have this same section in my magazine because it also attracts other readers who are interested in more than just RnB. I have included articles on keeping fit because staying in shape is a major thing these days.I have also posed an intriguing question about fame and happiness which is only answerable by reading that section which can only be found in my magazine.
